Dee Dee Locks and the Ness Monster is the first part of the 5th episode in season 2 of Dexter's Laboratory, which first aired on August 13, 1997. In this episode, Dexter reads a story to a sick Dee Dee. However, Dee Dee spins her own tale after she finds Dexter's story boring.
Dexter's mother asks him to read a story to Dee Dee, who is sick. However, Dee Dee becomes bored of Dexter's story and invents her own story, Dee Dee Locks and the Loch Ness Monster, which is a spoof of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Dee Dee's story is an amalgamation of several Mother Goose fairy tales, nursery rhymes and fables. Such as Goldilocks the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, Rub-A-Dub-Dub, The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish, Jack and the Beanstalk, There was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, The Three Blind Mice and Pinocchio.
Dee Dee flying with her enlarged ears may be a reference to the Disney film Dumbo.
The Ness Monster is based on the well known cryptid, the Loch Ness Monster of Scotland.
One of Dexter's stuffed animals is a smiling Krunk from The Justice Friends.
