Misplaced in Space is the third segment of the thirty-fourth episode in season 2 of Dexter's Laboratory. It first aired on April 8, 1998.
In this episode, Dexter gets sent to an alien prison following a teleportation mishap. There, he becomes the target of a large alien named Gork, who plans to eat him. Learning about Dexter's absence, Dee Dee goes on a mission to rescue her younger sibling.
Plot[]
In the cold opening, Dexter is on a faraway planet behind a long line of alien prisoners. As he enters the prison compound, he watches as a set of bars close down. Back on Earth, Dee Dee is in Dexter's laboratory looking for him, then goes to explore the house.
Back on the alien planet, Dexter is in the prison cafeteria getting a bowl of glorios, which is then eaten by an alien named Gork. Back on Earth, as Dad is working on his ship in a bottle, Dee Dee startles him and makes him drop the bottle. She then asks if he had seen Dexter. As Dad tells Dee Dee that Dexter is in the garden, Dee Dee excitedly runs outside to see him, only to find a gnome. Dee Dee stomps back into the house and startles Mom, causing her to drop the stack of bowls she was carrying. When Dee Dee asks about Dexter, Mom said she saw him in the fridge. Dee Dee walks over to the fridge, opens it, and sees an upside down ham with pineapple slices.
Back on the alien planet, Dexter is in a prison cell with Gork, who plans on eating Dexter once he uses a translator watch. Dexter pleads Gork not to eat him, but finds himself cornered as Gork tries to eat him alive. Back on Earth, Dee Dee enters the lab, and Computer reminds her that she is not supposed to be in there. Under the threat of Dee Dee "playing with" it, Computer explains to Dee Dee that there is no trace of Dexter on the planet as he had been in a transporter that disappeared from tracking, and to save Dexter, she has to follow his path through the transporter.
The idea excites Dee Dee, as she's thinking that she's going on a mission. Before sending Dee Dee off, Computer has Dee Dee go to the preparation bay for her suit-up procedure. Afterwards, Dee Dee runs into the transporter. Back on the alien planet, Gork uses its nostril to lift Dexter towards its mouth, but is stopped as Dee Dee appears. She orders Gork to drop Dexter and it does. The two then jump at each other, but are interrupted as Dee Dee quickly pulls out a dining table, to which Gork starts eating the turkey. As Gork is distracted, Dee Dee grabs Dexter and orders Computer to cue the transporter back to the lab.
Back in Dexter's laboratory, Dexter, instead of thanking Dee Dee, reminds her that she was the reason why he got sent to the alien planet in the first place. He explains that while he was in the transporter making minor adjustments, Dee Dee danced into his lab and pushed the button that activated the transporter, sending Dexter off to the alien planet. When Dee Dee pushes the button again, Dexter is swiftly transported out of the lab, and Dee Dee starts her search for Dexter once more.

- The Episode's title may be a reference to the classic television series "Lost In Space"
- The Gork Monster's signature catchphrase, "Gork!", may be based on the term "Grok" from Robert A. Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land; in said novel, "Grok" is Martian language meaning "to drink" (similar to how "Gork" means "Food").
- Dee Dee's new hairstyle closely resembles Princess Leia's hairstyle (played by the late Carrie Fisher) from Star Wars.
- Dee Dee says "Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Dexter?" at the end, a reference to the late Gary Coleman's catchphrase on Diff'rent Strokes. This is also the second time, as she has said this before in the episode "Sister Mom".
