Tuber Time is the second part of the 7th episode in season 4 of Dexter's Laboratory, which first aired on May 30, 2003. In this episode, Dexter, after seeing his best friend's potato project, becomes inspired to use it as a power source. However, all of the potatoes rot, leaving a very bad smell in the house.

Dexter is in his class presenting an alternate way to power an alarm clock, which blows up the entire school. Mordecai gets called up to the front of the class and explains how the potato powers an alarm clock. Dexter laughs and ridicules Mordecai, but all of the students gather around him, and Mr. Luzinsky praises Mordecai for using a safer method of introducing his project. The bell rings and everyone, except Dexter, races out of the classroom. Dexter looks at Mordecai's project and gets an idea of his own. He takes the potato home and tests the idea out. He inserts a plug into the potato, and it shorts out shortly after. Computer tells Dexter that the power isn't sufficient enough, and Dexter goes to look for more potatoes.

In the kitchen, Dexter finds Mom peeling potatoes, and takes one. Back in the lab, Dexter tries his idea again, and gets the same result. He heads back into the kitchen and gets the sack of potatoes, but is interrupted by Dad. He then orders Dexter to join the family for dinner, which he reluctantly does so. Dexter overhears them talking about potatoes and asks for all of the potato-based foods and takes them back to the lab. There, Dexter tries his idea once again, and gets the same result. In frustration, Dexter gets another idea.

Dexter goes around town asking for potatoes. Back in the lab, which is now flooded with potatoes, Dexter puts a plug into one of the potatoes, and the entire lab runs at full power. Computer tells Dexter that the test was a success, and Dexter calls it a day. The next morning, the house gets engulfed in a bad smell. Dexter looks down at his body and sees that all of the potatoes rotted. He then comes up with another idea and computes it. Outside, the entire planet has been changed into a potato's surface, and Dexter uses it as a power source.

Animation Goofs

  • When the students are gathered around Mordecai, his teeth are pink instead of white, which could cause viewers to mistake them for his tongue.
